alicia armstrong chatham
Alicia Chatham lives and works in Asheville, North Carolina. She grew up in a family that loved and appreciated the arts, both visual and musical. She was taken to art classes at an early age where she learned to draw and paint from life.

Alicia paints predominately on wood panel using layers of graphite, oil, and charcoal. The depth and dimension of her work are derived from an intuitive yet intentional mark making and layering process. She creates contemplative environments that deconstruct the compartmentalization of our life in an increasingly over-saturated society. The work reflects Alicia’s desire to create unity, progression, and wholeness in times of division and detachment.

Alicia attended the University of South Carolina and the University of North Carolina at Asheville where she earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a focus in oil painting.

Her work can be found in many Asheville establishments and can currently be seen at the Kress Emporium, Tree Gallery, and the LOFT of Asheville. Alicia's work can also be seen at Portfolio Art Gallery in Columbia, SC, Gregg Irby Fine Art in Atlanta, and at Atelier Gallery in both Asheville, NC and Charleston, SC.
